Well-structured, smooth and rounded, this wine is characterized by a long, elegant finish. Deep ruby red in colour, it has a delicious wild berry perfume, with flavor of raisins.
"Made from a blend of Corvina Veronese, Rondinella and Sangiovese grapes, the Palazzo della Torre is crafted in an innovative fashion. While 70% of the grapes are vinified immediately after harvesting, the remaining grapes are dried until the end of December. From that point, the wine and dried grapes ferment together. The nose will show ripe, wild berries, and you’ll get raisins on the palate. The long, lush finishing wine pairs well with risoti and grilled meats. This wine can also be cellared for an additional 8-10 years."

The 2006 Palazzo della Torre comes across as somewhat restrained for this wine. This is a very polished, elegant Palazzo della Torre with pretty layers of mocha, spices and new leather that add complexity to the fresh, vibrant fruit. Palazzo della Torre is 70% Corvina Veronese, 25% Rondinella and 5% Sangiovese. The addition of 30% dried fruit (Amarone style) adds an extra dimension of complexity. The retro 1970's label is also quite attractive. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2016.
