Santa Ema
Color: Deep, intense red.
Aroma: Complex and intense aromas of dark fruit, such as blueberries, cassis, and blackberries that lend tremendous typicity and complemented by a touch of dark chocolate.
Palate: Mouth-filling and highly concentrated wine with firm, ripe tannins and persistent fruit on the finish.
Pairing Suggestion: Drink with beef and lamb stews. Also excellent with ripe cheeses.

Santa Ema's 2008 Amplus Cabernet Sauvignon is a glass-coating opaque purple color with a striking nose of balsam wood, cinnamon, incense, rose petal, a hint of balsamic, and blackcurrant. Medium-bodied on the palate, with a round texture, spicy flavors, good grip, and layered fruit, it has enough stuffing to evolve for 1-2 years but can be approached now.

Wine Spectator
Shows the vintage's hint of tomato on the edge, but offers a solid core of tangy currant and fig fruit, backed by solid toast and violet notes. The lightly grippy finish has good focus. Drink now. 1,100 cases imported.

Wine Enthusiast
Huge in color and body, with thickness and long legs. The nose has a minty green core that's surrounded by cassis, while the palate is extracted, round and tastes of bouncy young red fruits and boysenberry. Grippy and a little high in acid given the wine's full body and extract level.

Sustainable practices incorporate organic standards and may exceed them and include ecologically and socially sound business practices such as fair pay for farm workers and energy conservation.
Screw Cap
Wines sealed with a screw cap as opposed to a cork, which experts report protects and preserves wine more effectively than does a cork, while also eliminating the possibility of cork taint.
No Sulfites
All wines naturally contain some sulfites, however wines that contain less than 10 parts per million sulfites are not required to include "Contains Sulfites" on their labels.

I still believe it is the simplest way to rate a wine, with its origins from grade school in the United States. A wine that I rate 90 points or more is outstanding (A), and worth buying. If I rate a wine 95 points or more (A+), it is a must buy.
