Tenuta Sette Ponti
The wine is ruby red with violet reflections and spicy aromas of blackberry. On the palate, ripe berries lead to spices and sweet oak on a full body with firm tannic structure.
A delicious companion to beef and pork roasts, and game such as venison and boar.

Ripe red with plum and berry character and big velvety tannins. Full and round mouthfeel. Lots of wood but juicy fruit carries the wine. Tuscany meets Napa. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Better in 2015.

Wine Advocate
The 2009 Oreno is stunning. Layers of soft, well-articulated fruit caress the palate in this sweeping, dramatic wine. There is tons of depth, freshness and vitality in the glass, not to mention terrific overall balance. Sweet flowers, spices and licorice wrap around the seamless, captivating finish. Oreno is one of Italy's most improved wines. The 2009, a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese, represents another move in the right direction. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2029.

Wine Spectator
This seems extracted, with density to its black currant, blackberry and spice flavors. Though rich and ripe, there's a steely backbone and firm, refined tannins for support. Lingers with dark fruit and spice, with a hint of mineral. Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. Best from 2013 through 2022. 3,500 cases imported.

Sustainably Grown
Sustainable practices incorporate organic standards and may exceed them and include ecologically and socially sound business practices such as fair pay for farm workers and energy conservation.
Screw Cap
Wines sealed with a screw cap as opposed to a cork, which experts report protects and preserves wine more effectively than does a cork, while also eliminating the possibility of cork taint.
No Sulfites
All wines naturally contain some sulfites, however wines that contain less than 10 parts per million sulfites are not required to include "Contains Sulfites" on their labels.

I rate wines using the 100-points scale. I have used this point system for close to 25 years. I still believe it is the simplest way to rate a wine, with its origins from grade school in the United States. A wine that I rate 90 points or more is outstanding (A), and worth buying. If I rate a wine 95 points or more (A+), it is a must buy.
