Domaine Jean-Noël Gagnard

Classified as a "Première Cuvée" in 1855, this is one of the most sought after appellations. It is believed that the name originates from the large number of pebbles ("cailloux") to be found in the local soil. Wherever such a denomination is to be found, whether it's at Puligny-Montrachet, Volnay or Meursault, it is associated always with the best lieux-dits.

Burghound

This offers what is perhaps the most elegant nose in the entire range with expressive and complex aromas of white flower, citrus rind and wet stone. Like the nose, the detailed, intense and classy flavors also exude a fine minerality on the highly vibrant, delicious and wonderfully well-balanced finish. This is quite simply terrific and should age well over the medium-term. Drink: 2015+. Comments: Sweet spot Outstanding. Score Range: 91-94.

Score: 94. —Allen Meadows, February 01, 2011.

Wine Spectator

Though ripe and opulent, this white reveals intensity and persistence. Peach, grapefruit and oak spice flavors end with a burst of grapefruit. The toast and spice accents linger. Drink now through 2020. 100 cases imported.

Score: 91. —Bruce Sanderson, July 31, 2012.
