Catena Zapata
The Catena family has conducted extensive research into the soils and microclimates of Mendoza's high altitude wine country in the foothills of the Andes mountains. At different altitudes, the family's Malbec vineyards express a unique profile of aromas and flavors: the ripe plum fruit flavors and silky texture of the Angelica vineyard (3018 ft elevation); the dark fruit character and pepper notes of the La Pirámide vineyard (3117 ft elevation); the black cherry aromas and excellent structure of the La Consulta vineyard (3593 ft elevation); the explosive floral aromatics full, concentrated mouthfeel of the Adrianna vineyard (4757 ft). The blend of these components creates a wine of unique character that has balance, concentration and a strong varietal identity.
International Wine Cellar
Bright red-ruby. Raspberry, licorice and fig aromas lifted by sexy oak tones. Vinous and refined on the palate, with dark raspberry, currant and fig flavors complicated by a saline nuance. Nicely balanced and not at all overly sweet. A slightly high-toned quality gives the wine lovely inner-mouth aromatic lift. Finishes with firm, fine, building tannins and excellent length. 91 points

Wine Advocate
The 2010 Catena Malbec is also a blend of four vineyards in Lunlunta, Agrelo, Altamira and Gualtallary at different altitudes and includes some whole cluster fermentation (about 20% of the blend.) It has a pellucid bouquet with tangible minerality: notes of blackberry, strawberry cheesecake, a touch of cassis and violets. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins on the entry. The acidity is crisp and lends tautness towards the succulent finish, which bestows blackberry, black olive and loganberry fruit. This is a finely crafted, feminine Malbec. Drink now-2018.

Wine Enthusiast
There's plenty of size, sweetness and fruit on the nose. It feels rich and ripe, with an exemplary weight-to-acid ratio, and it tastes juicy, fruity and friendly, with notes of black licorice and dark chocolate on the finish. A wine that properly blends Malbec's sweet and sultry sides.

Sustainable practices incorporate organic standards and may exceed them and include ecologically and socially sound business practices such as fair pay for farm workers and energy conservation.
Screw Cap
Wines sealed with a screw cap as opposed to a cork, which experts report protects and preserves wine more effectively than does a cork, while also eliminating the possibility of cork taint.
No Sulfites
All wines naturally contain some sulfites, however wines that contain less than 10 parts per million sulfites are not required to include "Contains Sulfites" on their labels.

I still believe it is the simplest way to rate a wine, with its origins from grade school in the United States. A wine that I rate 90 points or more is outstanding (A), and worth buying.
