"The 2005 had a lot to live up to since the 2004 was among my top 10 everyday favorites. It did not disappoint and I might even say it is better than the previous vintage. It has pungent, in-your-face aromas of vanilla and blueberries. It has full bodied flavors of blackberry and spice with a smooth, touch of licorice finish. The 04 was awesome, but the 05 is bangin'!"

Deep cherry red with ruby hues, Añares Reserva is a wine for laying down. Its aromatic complexity includes red berries, liquorice and hints of smokiness, opening up towards animal aromas after opening. In the mouth, it proves to be long and with good backbone, with a reminder of the fruit returning in the aftertaste.
Wine Advocate
The 2005 Anares Reserva is a blend of 75% Tempranillo, 10% Garnacha, with the balance Mazuelo and Graciano. The wine was racked several times in large American oak vats before aging for 18 months in barrique. It offers a denser hue but a more brooding bouquet than the Crianza. Made in a traditional style, it is supple, savory, and elegant in the mouth with enough underlying structure to evolve for 2-3 years. This well-proportioned effort will deliver prime drinking from 2013 to 2020 at a remarkably fair price.

Certified organic vineyards must meet Demeter"s additional criteria for a period of one year before earning the designation "biodynamic."
Sustainably Grown
Sustainable practices incorporate organic standards and may exceed them and include ecologically and socially sound business practices such as fair pay for farm workers and energy conservation.
Screw Cap
Wines sealed with a screw cap as opposed to a cork, which experts report protects and preserves wine more effectively than does a cork, while also eliminating the possibility of cork taint.
No Sulfites
All wines naturally contain some sulfites, however wines that contain less than 10 parts per million sulfites are not required to include "Contains Sulfites" on their labels.

I still believe it is the simplest way to rate a wine, with its origins from grade school in the United States. A wine that I rate 90 points or more is outstanding (A), and worth buying. If I rate a wine 95 points or more (A+), it is a must buy.
