Ridiculously charming a loveable, dancing wine; a little girl very neat in her school uniform, playing hopscotch on her way home; among the most innocent and child-like of any '09 I tasted; lots of lime and garrigue and sassafrass, piercing brightness, whistling to itself as it skips out of view around the corner. One can be fond of wine like this.
Wine Advocate
The generic Diel 2009 Burg Layen Riesling Kabinett (corresponding more or less to the wine labeled last year as "Burg Layen Kabinett") is generous with apple and pear; tinged with Erdener Treppchen-like notes of sassafras and licorice; and finishes with subtle sweetness, ample juiciness, and alluring underlying nuttiness. A mysterious hint of gentian emerged in one of the two bottles I tasted as it opened to the air. This combines creaminess, refreshment, and interactive complexity in a manner that anticipates the striking success of the Diel single-vineyard Kabinetts. And at 10.5% alcohol, it sacrifices no sense of levity or delicacy yet is able to project merely discreet sweetness. Enjoy this delightfully versatile Riesling over the next 10-12 years.

Sustainable practices incorporate organic standards and may exceed them and include ecologically and socially sound business practices such as fair pay for farm workers and energy conservation.
Screw Cap
Wines sealed with a screw cap as opposed to a cork, which experts report protects and preserves wine more effectively than does a cork, while also eliminating the possibility of cork taint.
No Sulfites
All wines naturally contain some sulfites, however wines that contain less than 10 parts per million sulfites are not required to include "Contains Sulfites" on their labels.

I still believe it is the simplest way to rate a wine, with its origins from grade school in the United States. A wine that I rate 90 points or more is outstanding (A), and worth buying.
