"This is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot and made mostly with French oak. I enjoyed the character of this wine with notes of dark fruit, clove, licorice and leather. It has warm, earthy aromas and this blend is drinking fantastic right now. The best part about this wine was that I tasted it with winemaker Jeffrey Stambor who came into our store to visit us in May 2012!"

BV
Weaving together five classic varietals, our 2008 Beaulieu Vineyard Reserve Tapestry begins with deep, briary blackberry and cassis character from Cabernet Sauvignon. Velvety black-cherry character comes from a generous blending of Merlot, while Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot add violet, licorice, forest loam and graphite nuances, as well as deep hues and texture. Tapestry elegantly demonstrates the art of blending varietals to create a wine that combines multilayered flavors with supple, graceful tannin structure. Enjoy this opulent wine with full-flavored foods, including roasted lamb or beef and grilled steak smothered in mushrooms.

Wine Spectator

Blends ripe, fleshy plum and black cherry flavors with a subtle backbone of acidity and tannins. Slow to unfold, but does so gracefully, revealing dusty earth, cedar and black licorice in an elegant style. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot. Drink now through 2018.

Score: 91. —James Laube, November 15, 2011.

Wine Advocate

The 2008 Reserve Tapestry comes across as a bit leaner than the 2009. I have a preference for the 2009 here. Mint, licorice, grilled herbs and plums are some of the notes that linger on the finish. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2016.

Score: 89. —Antonio Galloni, December 2011.
