"This is still just a baby. I double decanted this and tasted it again on day 2, but it's still young with years to go. The wine has fantastic aromas of dried cherry and leather. It is full-bodied and tight, but bright flavors are shining through, Let this age for at least 5 years. This is a great cellar selection."
Debbie Nelson - Wine Manager

Banfi
The color is an intense red, with garnet hues. On the nose there are complex aromas, with hints of plum jam, vanilla, tobacco and coffee, and with a light spicy note. On the palate it is full, soft and persistent with ripe supple tannins and great structure. Its long finish and gentle aftertaste reveals great potential for aging.

James Suckling

Aromas of ripe plums and berries and hints of tar. Full body, with velvety tannins and a lovely texture. Fruit and coffee character on the palate. Structured. Classy and powerful. Needs two or three years to soften. Better than 2006.

Score: 96. January 25, 2012.

Wine Enthusiast

Named after one of the most beautiful stone castles in Europe, Poggio alle Mura is a dark and compelling wine that shows a clean quality, a fresh mouthfeel and excellent length. Beautiful fruit intensity with cherry, blackberry, spice, leather and tobacco describe the bouquet. Good aging potential.

Score: 94. —Monica Larner, May 01, 2012.

Wine Advocate

The 2007 Brunello di Montalcino Poggio alle Mura blasts across the palate with a heady array of black cherries, camphor, licorice and spices. The wine possesses gorgeous depth and inner sweetness in a plush, inviting style with plenty of early appeal. An explosive finish rounds things out in style. The Poggio alle Mura was aged in 350-liter barrels. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2025.

Score: 92. —Antonio Galloni, April 2012.
