Gramercy Cellars

This wine displays an amazingly floral nose with hints of orange rind. Flavors of liquid stone and gravel, with smoked meat and red and black fruits. This wine is all about balance with fantastic acidity and intense fruit and earth flavors. This is a food wine, not for sipping on the porch!

Wine Enthusiast

An outstanding and uniquely styled Syrah. The mix of tart fruits, peppers, herbs, earth and forest floor flavors is riveting. The wine dances and bows, it takes you on a leaping trip through a world of Syrah rarely found anywhere else, buoyed by the brilliant natural acidity of Washington fruit.

Score: 93. —Paul Gregutt, September 01, 2011.

Wine Advocate

The 2008 Syrah Lagniappe was aged for 15 months in French barriques and puncheons. A glass-coating opaque purple color, it reveals a perfume of Asian spices, mineral, lavender, smoked meat, and blueberry. On the palate it is round and elegant with no hard edges to be found. Medium-bodied, spicy, and pleasure-bent, it will drink well over the next 8-10 years.

Score: 92. —Jay Miller, August 2010.

Wine Spectator

Spicy, with rose peppercorn and oregano overtones to the dark berry and espresso flavors, riding easily over polished tannins and lingering well. Drink now through 2016. 264 cases made.

Score: 91. —Harvey Steiman, October 31, 2011.
