The soils of Clos Saint Denis are very drained, and the fruit achieves a lot of ripeness and flavor Mounir calls this a humiliating wine, because your first impression is of a wine that is full of earthy, dirty notes, but when it emerges after time to breathe, or with age, it displays sweet red fruits and a sweet finish. The soil here is rich in iron and phosphorous, giving this wine a contrast between dirty and sweet.
Wine Advocate
The Le Moine two barrel lot of 2007 Clos St.-Denis smells of game, Shitakes, and fresh red fruits. On the palate, beef marrow and spice-tinged ripe red berries and plum play against salt and chalk. This finishes with refinement and lift, like a slowly building wave, engendering uncontrollable salivation and a serious hankering for the next sip. Don't look for weight or overt richness here - and the wine may seem disconcertingly light in color for some tasters - but do expect grand cru persistence of the mysterious flavors that make this site so remarkable. I would anticipate at least 6-8 years of interesting bottle evolution and the sort of versatile compatibility with myriad meat, fish, and vegetables that among red wines few save for red Burgundies with high umami quotients can boast.

A layered, fresh and lacy nose features of cranberry, raspberry, spice and earth nuances that are also picked up by the detailed, minerally and textured flavors brimming with dry extract, all wrapped in a delicious, intense and beautifully well balanced finish. A lovely blend of power and elegance. Score Range: 91-93. Drink: 2015+

Sustainable practices incorporate organic standards and may exceed them and include ecologically and socially sound business practices such as fair pay for farm workers and energy conservation.
Screw Cap
Wines sealed with a screw cap as opposed to a cork, which experts report protects and preserves wine more effectively than does a cork, while also eliminating the possibility of cork taint.
No Sulfites
All wines naturally contain some sulfites, however wines that contain less than 10 parts per million sulfites are not required to include "Contains Sulfites" on their labels.
