Pertimali di Livio Sassetti
Deep garnet tending to purple/black in color at the core. It has an intense nose with ripe blackberry, cherry, dried violet and spices. It is dark, tannic, and brooding. The bold mineral finish rounds out the distinctive 'steel-fist-in-velvet-glove' style. This offering is a rare treat for serious Brunello afficianados.
Serving suggestions: Savory pasta dishes, red meat, game.
Wine Advocate
Pertimali's 2003 Brunello di Montalcino is once again among the small number of wines being made in Montalcino that offers real character. This intense, powerful Brunello exhibits the essence of flowers, tar, smoke, dark cherries and wild herbs as it opens to reveal superb depth and concentration. The tannins of the vintage are present, but the wine's sheer richness provides more than enough balance. A surprisingly fresh, long finish rounds out the wine. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2018.

Blueberry and raspberry, with hints of vanilla and spices, lead to a full-bodied palate, with velvety tannins and a long finish. Needs time. Best after 2009.

Biodynamic designation is regulated by Demeter, an international certification organization. Biodynamic agriculture is based on the view of a farm as a self-contained organism. Certified organic vineyards must meet Demeter"s additional criteria for a period of one year before earning the designation "biodynamic."
Sustainably Grown
Sustainable practices incorporate organic standards and may exceed them and include ecologically and socially sound business practices such as fair pay for farm workers and energy conservation.
Screw Cap
Wines sealed with a screw cap as opposed to a cork, which experts report protects and preserves wine more effectively than does a cork, while also eliminating the possibility of cork taint.
No Sulfites
All wines naturally contain some sulfites, however wines that contain less than 10 parts per million sulfites are not required to include "Contains Sulfites" on their labels.

I still believe it is the simplest way to rate a wine, with its origins from grade school in the United States. A wine that I rate 90 points or more is outstanding (A), and worth buying. If I rate a wine 95 points or more (A+), it is a must buy.
