San Giusto a Rentennano
Colour: Intense ruby red tending to garnet with ageing.
Nose: Rich, ample, complex, berries, cherries, spicy, mineral.
Flavour: Warm, complex, very intense, vigorous and numerous tannins, persistent.
Serving Suggestions: Red meat, game.
Wine Advocate
The 2008 Percarlo is very young. Dark cherries, smoke, tobacco, incense and licorice burst from the glass in this powerful, virile wine. The 2008 Percarlo is surprisingly big for the vintage, but it also shows some rough edges that will require bottle age to soften. Still, I am impressed with the sheer depth of the fruit and the wine's overall length. Percarlo has a way of developing beautifully in bottle, and I have little doubt that will be the case here as well, given the way the wine comes together after a few hours of air. Though not inexpensive, Percarlo is without question one of the very finest wines in the world in its price range. I followed an open bottle for three days, during which the wine never lost one bit of its intensity. This is a fabulous showing. Anticipated maturity: 2018-2028.

Wine Spectator
There's a lashing of toast and vanilla from the oak, but the prevailing aroma and flavor is pure, ripe raspberry. Supple and elegant, with enough fruit to handle the oak and dusty tannins. Fine length. Best from 2014 through 2022. 1,500 cases made.

Sustainable practices incorporate organic standards and may exceed them and include ecologically and socially sound business practices such as fair pay for farm workers and energy conservation.
Screw Cap
Wines sealed with a screw cap as opposed to a cork, which experts report protects and preserves wine more effectively than does a cork, while also eliminating the possibility of cork taint.
No Sulfites
All wines naturally contain some sulfites, however wines that contain less than 10 parts per million sulfites are not required to include "Contains Sulfites" on their labels.

I still believe it is the simplest way to rate a wine, with its origins from grade school in the United States. A wine that I rate 90 points or more is outstanding (A), and worth buying. If I rate a wine 95 points or more (A+), it is a must buy.
