Ripe & Round 89pt QPR Argentine Red Blend On Sale!
43% OFF!!

Tilia Malbec Syrah 2011
Mendoza, Argentina

"The 2011 Tilia Malbec Syrah (an equal blend, the latter from the Uco Valley) is co-fermented in tank. It has a ripe, rounded floral nose that is more extroverted than others in the Tilia range of 2011s: creme de cassis, blueberry and crushed violets. The palate is medium-bodied, with fine tannins and a firm grip. It is tightly wound and probably requires a year in bottle. There is certainly good substance and persistency, and it is sure to shake off its broodiness within a few months. Drink 2014-2018."

THIS OFFER ENDS November 21, 2012 OR BEFORE IF WE SELL OUT!

Tilia, the Latin name for Linden, is a traditional tree that grows throughout the wine country of Mendoza. That is the graphic that appears on all the Tilia labels. Its flowers are used to make a popular herbal tea with calming properties and represents the spiritual side of life in Mendoza, Argentina. The Tilia wines are made at Bodegas Esmeralda, a Catena family winery in eastern Mendoza dedicated to the value segment of the Argentine domestic market. The Tilia wines are made by Alejandro Viggiani, the winemaker and viticulturalist in charge of all Catena family vineyards in eastern Mendoza. The vineyards in Mendoza where the fruit is sourced are actually in desert regions where water is a scarce and precious resource. The Tilia team actively implements and promotes water conservation in the use of drip irrigation and the treatment and reuse of winery waste water for irrigation. The water used for irrigation in Mendoza comes from the snow melt off the Andes. The grapes for this wine come from vineyards in the eastern and southern Mendoza regions that have different microclimates. This blend gives more flavors and complexity to this value wine. Following fermentation it spends 6 months in French and American oak before bottling.
