Urban Uco Torrontes 2011
Mendoza, Argentina
"The 2011 Urban Uco Torrontes comes from a vineyard in Cafayate, but is vinified at the winery in Uco Valley and it is fermented in stainless steel over ten days. It has a very well-defined pineapple, grapefruit and white peach-scented bouquet with hints of passion fruit developing with aeration. The palate is very well-balanced with an understated, entry of dried apricot and a touch of dried ginger. It is very harmonious, understated with great purity towards the finish. Excellent. Drink now-2016. "

Bodega y Vinedos O. Fournier founders Natalia Ortega Gil-Fournier and Jose Manuel Ortega Gil-Fournier's mission is to become one of the most outstanding high-quality group of wineries in Argentina. They aim to achieve this goal using the competitive advantages the vineyards and the weather offer as well as the enabling technology and their relevant local and international winemaking knowledge. Bodega Fournier now owns three estates some 15 km from the Andes Range covering 706 acres. A total of 232 are currently planted with vines, some of which are over 30 years old. These estates are Finca Santa Sofia, Finca San Manuel and Finca San Jose. Bodega Fournier purchased the last two estates to allow it to meet 30 per cent of its grape requirements. It buys the other 70 per cent from high quality vineyards of local producers, with whom it has established long-term agreements. The company aims to acquire more old vineyards plus they are building a new gravity fed winery equipped with the latest technology. The underground cellar will be able to hold up to 2,800 oak barrels at a constant temperature and humidity. Today's feature is 100% Torrontes that is fermented for 10 days in stainless steel tanks and bottled without any wood aging. This lack of oak brings out the pure Torrontes stone and tropical fruit aromas and flavors. |
