Tait The B@ll Buster Red 2010
Barossa Valley, Australia

"Blended of 77% Shiraz, 16% Cabernet Sauvignon and 7% Merlot, Tait’s 2010 The Ballbuster gives a very deep garnet purple color and pronounced notes of spiced blackberries, blueberry pie filling and stewed plums with hints of freshly cracked black pepper and fenugreek. Very full bodied and richly fruited, it has a good line of crisp acidity lending lift and a medium to firm level of velvety tannins, finishing long and peppery. Drink it now to 2016."

The folks at Tait Wines say, "It is our philosophy that all quality wine starts in the vineyard. The Barossa fruit we use is always very low yielding and produces highly concentrated flavors and aromas. We use traditional winemaking methods including open fermentation, extended maceration and basket pressing. We feel our wines display our uncompromising pursuit of excellence." Tait Wines is a family owned winery located in the famous Barossa Valley, in South Australia. The Tait name has been involved in the wine industry for more than 100 years, practicing the art of cooperage. The inspiration behind Tait Wines was Giovanni Tait (1927-1997). Giovanni migrated to Australia from Italy in 1957 to take up work as a cooper in the Barossa. He learned cooperage from his father and grandfather before migrating to Australia. His high skill and craftsmanship in his chosen trade led him to B. Seppelts and Sons where he took an active role in the production and maturation of wine in oak casks. It was not until his sons grew older that his dream came to reality. With his sons, he founded a small winery called Tait Wines. His vision for Tait Wines was to be a traditional winery using all the old winemaking methods to produce hand crafted wines that were powerful in depth, flavor and taste. Bruno Tait, winemaker and one of Giovanni's sons, says that he wanted to name this wine after his wife and call it "Michelle's Block" but he thought that too feminine considering the wine in this bottle! Bruno says of this wine, "She's broad-shouldered, built like a stallion and she packs an intensity of flavor like only the Barossa can deliver. She's what I call "The B@ll Buster" mate!"
