 Tora Bay Sauvignon Blanc is produced from a single 112 acre vineyard in the small boutique wine region of Martinborough, New Zealand. The total number of acres in the region is only 1,200. Martinborough is at the southern tip of New Zealand's North Island close to the capital of Wellington. The maritime climate features hot summers and long cool autumns. Tora Bay Wines was established by director Martin Bonifant, who has been involved in the production of wine and olive oil in the region for over 16 years. Winemaker Tony Pritchard was the senior winemaker at one of New Zealand's top wine companies for 20 years. The 2011 vintage is their 4th vintage. Today's feature was fermented in chilled stainless steel tanks to preserve sensitive aromatics and tropical passion fruit essences that are famous in this region.
