Deep & Fresh 90pt Spanish QPR Red Value of the Year On Sale!
40% OFF!!

Bodegas Borsao Campo de Borja Garnacha 2011
Campo de Borja, Spain

"Another outstanding effort is the 2011 Tinto, a blend of 85% Grenache (called Garnacha in Spain) and 15% Tempranillo that is fermented and aged in stainless steel. Possibly the single greatest dry red wine value in the world, this is an unbelievable wine...Its deep ruby/purple color is followed by classic aromas of kirsch liqueur intermixed with raspberries, loamy soil and flowers. This medium to full-bodied wine possesses remarkable depth, an expansive texture and wonderful freshness as well as purity. On taste alone, this beauty could easily sell for $30-50 a bottle."

In 1958 the Cooperative of Borja was founded, which was the forerunner of the Borsao brand. In 2001, the company Bodegas Borsao S.A. was formed, comprising the cooperatives of Borja, Pozuelo and Tabuenca. This combination of resources and experience along with the potential of the vineyards of the 3 wine cellars has enabled the development of many wines that have gained international recognition and prestige. The Sierra del Moncayo mountains, with their soft undulations, provide optimum conditions for growing grapes, especially Garnacha (Grenache) that by tradition represents 70% of the total production. New varieties such as Syrah, Tempranillo, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon have adapted to this hard, dry and stony land. This terroir protects the different vineyards, regulating the cold, the heat and the typical winds (locally called the Cierzo) from the North that give the grape its characteristic wild aroma. In 1980 the Campo de Borja appellation was established here and can be found on all the Borsao wines. The grapes for today's feature come from vineyards with an age of 15 to 25 years on stony soils with clay and limestone. The different varietals are fermented separately in stainless steel tanks before blending. We don't believe it sees any wood aging at all letting the pure fruit flavors stand on their own.
