Achaval Ferrer is a group of friends from Argentina and Italy, together since 1998, sharing dreams and undertakings, challenging themselves to the commitment to base all of their work on extreme quality and respect for the earth. These friends are: Santiago Achaval Becu, Manuel Ferrer Minetti, Marcelo Victoria and Diego Rosso from Argentina and Tiziano Siviero and Roberto Cipresso from Italy. Roberto is a renowned Italian winemaker and specialist in small production and high quality wines. Their estates are located in the province of Mendoza between 2,100 and 3,300 feet above sea level. This region offers the soil conditions, weather and irrigation optimal for growing Malbec and other varietals like Cabernet Sauvignon. Wide temperature changes (warm days and cool nights), desert-like climate, poor soil composition and irrigation waters from the pristine snowmelt off the Andes encourage the maturation process of grapes which converts into wines with character, profound structure and complexity. Since the 1999 harvest, they have been able to achieve this common dream of producing, in small quantities, their first Achaval Ferrer wines, honoring the expression of both the varietal and vineyard soils. In March 2006, they achieved the dream of finishing their Winery, located in Lujan de Cuyo, inside Finca Bella Vista. Transcending the strict aesthetic and with a style of industrial archeology, the building was devised and conceived mainly based on functionality and operational safety. Within this style, the old concrete vat model and the recycled beams from antique industrial buildings harmoniously coexist with aluminum frames.
