 Belle Glos showcases distinctive single-vineyard Pinot Noirs produced from some of California's top wine-growing regions. The vineyard locations can all be described as coastal, but the climate differences are significant, depending on the amount of fog, wind, sunlight, and soil type at each site. Each wine is crafted to distill the purest essence of the vineyard into elegant expressions of California Pinot Noir. Winemaker Joseph Wagner chose the name Belle Glos (pronounced BELL GLOSS),to honor his grandmother,Lorna Belle Glos Wagner, a co-founder of Caymus Vineyards. After years of making just the estate Pinot Noirs, Wagner embarked on a new project: Meiomi. Meiomi (May-OH-mee), meaning "coast" in the language of the California Wappo tribe, truly symbolizes the origin of this Pinot Noir. Each of the vineyards chosen for Meiomi offers the best expression of their appellations along the California coast. From the maritime mist of Sonoma to the chilly fog of Santa Barbara and the howling winds of Monterey in between, these Pinot Noir vineyards lay the foundation for one dynamic blend. With a soft hand in the cellar and aged in French oak, the wine evolves into an elegant balance of spice and fruit, weight and restraint with grace and opulence. |
