 This estate is located near Alba in the heart of the Barolo zone, in the municipality of Castiglione Falletto. It's a family business with a long tradition, currently operated by Giorgio Sordo. They have been producing wine for more than three generations, since his grandfather Joseph founded the company in the early twentieth century. The real turning point in the company's evolution was when his father John with his wife Mary acquired several vineyards in the best locations by searching the entire Barolo area. Today the company has a total area of 52 hectares (128 acres), of which 40 (98 acres) are vineyards. These vineyards are distributed in the municipalities of Serralunga d'Alba, La Morra, Novello, Castiglione Falletto, Monforte d'Alba, Grinzane Cavour and Vezza d 'Alba. The company is equipped with modern wine-making and storage facilities pictured here. An impressive aging cellar furnished with oak barrels of different sizes allows a perfect maturation and evolution of the wines. All production processes both in the vineyard and in the cellar follow the strict traditions handed down through the generations but also employ new techniques where appropriate. The Ceretta di Perno vineyard is located in the Monforte d’Alba and is a hard-to-reach, steep, difficult to farm and remote vineyard. Nearly abandoned in the sixties, it has been recultivated the last few decades, and produces wines of freshness and vivacity.
