"Fascinating aromas of dried meat, berries and flowers. Full body, with a wonderful velvety tannin structure and a juicy and sweet fruit aftertaste. Impressive depth of fruit too. Very polished and well-made. Even better than 2006."

La Rasina is an agricultural estate specializing in the production of quality wines. The estate was born in the 1970's with the work of Santi Mantengoli, but it was only in the second half of the eighties that, with the help of his son Vasco, the main activity became a specialization in wine-growing/making. The first bottles of Brunello di Montalcino with the estate logo on the bottle date back to 1988. In 1997 the estate management was taken over by Vasco's son Marco, a young wine technician, thanks to whom new ideas and modern technology were married to the age old traditional experience. This Montalcino estate covers an area of 111 acres of which 20 are dedicated to vineyards and 12 to olives groves. The only wines produced here are the Brunello di Montalcino and Rosso di Montalcino along with a considerable amount of extra virgin olive oil. Their Brunello is made from a careful selection of the Sangiovese Grosso grapes (the only varietal grown here). The Brunello ages for 5 years before release, with two of those in oak casks. And, of course, if well cellared it can last for many years.
