 Santa Rita was founded in 1880, by a distinguished entrepreneur, Mr. Domingo Fernandez Concha in the area of Alto Jahuel, Chile where the main facilities of the winery are still located. From the very beginning, he introduced fine French varieties, winemakers and the most advanced winemaking techniques. During the 1970's, Santa Rita developed under the ownership of Vicente Garcia-Huidobro, father of the famous Chilean poet Vicente Huidobro Fernandez. In 1980, the Grupo Claro acquired the Santa Rita property, introducing new, more modern technological and winemaking techniques unknown in Chile at that time. By the end of the 1980's a great expansion period for Santa Rita started. It earned important awards and worldwide recognition. The Medalla Real Cabernet Sauvignon is crafted from a single estate in Alto Jahuel, located in Chile's famous Maipo Valley, one of the finest wine producing regions in the world.
