 Formerly known as Domaine Murmurium, Domaine Vindemio is a winery established in 2006 by a group of friends passionate about wine making. They called upon Jean Marot, the domain Murmurium winemaker, and his son William to run the new venture. They rely on Marot to direct the operation in the vineyards and in the cellar. Vindemio biodynamically farms 20 hectares (49 acres) of vines in the commune of Mormoiron Auzon at the foot of Mont Ventoux. The grapes for their reds consist mainly of Grenache and Syrah. And for whites, Clairette and Grenache Blanc. The vines that they grow have been organically farmed since 1997. They decided to convert the entire vineyard to biodynamic farming at the beginning of 2008 because they believe that vital energy provided by this mode of agriculture is essential to the harmony of their vineyards and thus their wines. Therefore, no chemical fertilizers are used but only organic compost when it is needed. And they do not use any insecticides, even natural, to maintain full balance of wildlife in their vineyards. Today's feature is their entry level red blend called Regain, comprised of 60% Grenache and 40% Syrah. It's a terrific value for what is in the bottle!
