Wine Advocate
The 2006 AlfaSpiga was aged in new French and American oak for 18 months. This deeply colored Ribera displays lots of glycerin accompanied by scents of pain grille, cinnamon, clove, lavender, tapenade, and blackberry. Opulent on the palate with succulent, spicy black fruit flavors, it is a beautifully proportioned wine with superb volume and length. It will offer a drinking window extending from 2014 to 2026.

International Wine Cellar
malo in new oak, then aged in new oak, 80% French and 20% American) Inky ruby. Explosive aromas of black raspberry, cherry-vanilla, dried violet, mocha and cola. Sappy, bright and full, with impressive lift and grip giving the dense dark fruit a weightless quality. Expands to saturate the palate, finishing with velvety tannins and impressive length. This could still use some time to stretch out.

Wine Spectator
This polished red delivers coffee, licorice and cola notes that frame a core of black cherry and earth. This has muscular tannins, but stays fresh and clean through the smoky finish. Drink now through 2016.

Sustainable practices incorporate organic standards and may exceed them and include ecologically and socially sound business practices such as fair pay for farm workers and energy conservation.
Screw Cap
Wines sealed with a screw cap as opposed to a cork, which experts report protects and preserves wine more effectively than does a cork, while also eliminating the possibility of cork taint.
No Sulfites
All wines naturally contain some sulfites, however wines that contain less than 10 parts per million sulfites are not required to include "Contains Sulfites" on their labels.

I still believe it is the simplest way to rate a wine, with its origins from grade school in the United States. A wine that I rate 90 points or more is outstanding (A), and worth buying. If I rate a wine 95 points or more (A+), it is a must buy.
