This gushes forth, with loads of plum, blackberry and cassis that saturate the palate, while apple wood, tobacco and perfumy incense keep everything fresh and alluring through the very lengthy finish, where a lively peppery hint leaves a mouthwatering feel. Wine Advocate
What I tend to think of as the top cuvee, although it is not that certain when you taste these wines next to each other, is the Chateauneuf du Pape Collection Charles Giraud. The 2009, which is showing better from bottle than it did last year, is a wonderfully complex wine made from 60% Grenache and 40% Mourvedre. (The Grenache comes from 80-year-old vines aged in concrete, and the Mourvedre from 60-year-old vines aged in 600-litre demi-muids). This wine was utterly perfect in 2007, and I think the 2009 is another fabulous wine. Complex notes of licorice, incense, lavender, new saddle leather, blackberry and kirsch along with some tree bark and roasted meats are all present in this complex, fragrant wine, which is full-bodied, dense, rich and capable of improving for another 5-10 years and lasting two decades.

A kaleidoscopic bouquet combines dark berries, kirsch, rose oil, smoke and Moroccan spices. Lush and sweet, offering an intriguing mix of power and finesse, with lively acidity lifting the ripe blackberry and cherry flavors that become spicier with air. Finishes extremely long and sweet, accented by sexy floral and spice cake nuances.

Sustainable practices incorporate organic standards and may exceed them and include ecologically and socially sound business practices such as fair pay for farm workers and energy conservation.
Screw Cap
Wines sealed with a screw cap as opposed to a cork, which experts report protects and preserves wine more effectively than does a cork, while also eliminating the possibility of cork taint.
No Sulfites
All wines naturally contain some sulfites, however wines that contain less than 10 parts per million sulfites are not required to include "Contains Sulfites" on their labels.

I still believe it is the simplest way to rate a wine, with its origins from grade school in the United States. A wine that I rate 90 points or more is outstanding (A), and worth buying. If I rate a wine 95 points or more (A+), it is a must buy.
