Olivier Leflaive

A parcel situated above the Rachet hill on the upper slope whose name comes from "the fields reclaimed from the forest". Its clay and calcareous soil produces wines of impressive purity and fine quality. The Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "Champ Gain" has been a jewel in Olivier Leflaive's crown of appellations for ten years.

Wine Spectator

A haunting combination of creamy texture and bright structure sets the pace for floral, peach, apple and hazelnut flavors in this balanced white. Stays fresh, with the aftertaste honing in on orchard fruit, spice and mineral. Drink now through 2022. From France.

Score: 95. —Bruce Sanderson, November 28, 2012.

Wine Advocate

The 2010 Puligny-Montrachet Champ Gain is a gorgeous and complete wine. Layers of textured fruit wrap around the palate in what is a decidedly juicy style of Puligny. There isn't a ton of complexity in the glass, yet the wine impresses for its overall balance and sheer sense of harmony. The Champ Gain is one of the finest wines in this lineup, and arguably the best premier cru in the Domaine/Maison Olivier Leflaive range. Anticipated maturity: 2012+.

Score: 91. —Antonio Galloni, August 2012.

Burghound

This is not quite as ripe as the Referts though it's close as the peach, apricot and floral aromas are very much in keeping with the succulent, rich, round and very generous flavors that possess good mid-palate volume as the dry extract really coats the palate. There is solid precision to the delicious and sneaky long finish. This really builds from the mid-palate and I like the overall sense of harmony.

Score: 90-92. —Allen Meadows, June 2012.
