Wine Advocate

The 2005 Brunello di Montalcino is awesome. Dark fruit, minerals, spices and a host of balsamic notes emerge from this powerful, textured Brunello. Poggio di Sotto's 2005 is one of the most muscular, concentrated wines of the vintage. The intensity of the fruit beautifully balances the tannins on the finish, where mint and flowers frame the close. This is a seductive, mysterious Brunello that provides endless fascination and discovery. Readers will want to put it on their short lists! Proprietor Piero Palmucci gave his 2005 Brunello a full four years in cask. A 2005 Riserva is also in the works. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2025.

Score: 95. —Antonio Galloni, April 2010.

Wine Enthusiast

This is a dark, smooth and rich Riserva Brunello with a spot of sweet succulence and ripe cherry at the midpalate. The wine offers long, smooth texture and a clean, persistent mouthfeel.

Score: 93. —Monica Larner, April 01, 2011.

Wine Spectator

A balanced and pretty wine, with berries, plum and toasty oak. This is full and silky, long and gorgeous. Organic. Drink now.

Score: 90. —James Suckling, 2010.
