"One of the first Brunello's I fell in love with was the house of Tenuta La Fuga. The 2004 has pungent and aromatic aromas of roses, black cherry, black pepper, figs and leather. It is full-bodied and extraordinarily elegant with dare I say a pretty finish. Enjoy with Branzino, pasta or medium-bodied cheeses. This is an unheard of price point for a Brunello of this caliber so get it while it's still here!"
Debbie Nelson - Wine Manager

Tenuta la Fuga
Deep ruby in color with purple highlights, this wine shows an intense bouquet of red berries offset by notes of leather and incense which are confirmed on the palate, supported by firm, elegant tannins of moderate intensity.

Wine Advocate

The 2004 Brunello di Montalcino is a big, strapping wine endowed with tons of ripe dark fruit, licorice, new leather, French oak and minerals. Today the wine comes across as somewhat backward and unexpressive, yet the fruit reveals superior density and richness that only needs some time to emerge. The wine's balance and poise is evident even at this early stage. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2024.

Score: 92. —Antonio Galloni, June 2009.

Wine Enthusiast

One thing we've discovered about Tenuta La Fuga is that it performs evenly, year after year, despite climatic variations and extremes. That's a telltale sign of good winemaking and this Brunello delivers a sure bet to consumers thanks to its soft, supple mouthfeel and lingering aromas of succulent cherry and spice.

Score: 90. —Monica Larner, June 01, 2009.

Wine Spectator

Shows freshly sliced plum on the nose, with hints of mushroom and wood. Full-bodied, with firm tannins and a fruity berry aftertaste. A little tight still, but with balanced and refined tannins. Needs time. Best from 2011 through 2015.

Score: 90. —James Suckling, 2009.
