Cabernet Sauvignon has been called the King of Wines because of its quality and the fact that it is grown in virtually all the major wine growing areas of the world. Its origins date back to 17th century France and an accidental cross between Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc. In France Cabernet Sauvignon is often blended with Cabernet Franc and Merlot in the Bordeaux region. In California it is frequently bottled all by itself and in Australia it is often blended with Shiraz. Because of it’s naturally high tannin content in the skins it also makes some of the longest aging wines. Cabernet Sauvignon is often described as containing flavors of cassis (black currant), black cherry and other dark berry flavors. Wherever they are from you should buy Cabernet Sauvignon wines at the Ultimate Wine Shop.
