There has been a lot of confusion in the wine world over the Pinot Blanc grape because it has been confused with Chardonnay and other issues about whether it is related to Chardonnay. The grape is grown in a number of areas in the world but the best examples of wines made with Pinot Blanc are from the Alsace region of France and the Alto Adige area of Italy. There are also some nice Pinot Blanc wines made in California. Pinot Blanc wines are generally dry and compare in some ways to Chardonnay but they are generally not as complex as Chardonnay.
