Ultimate Wine Shop Shipping Policy

First and foremost, if you order from us you are representing to us that you are at least 21 years of age and that the person to whom it is being shipped is also at least 21 years old. An adult signature will be required upon delivery. We cannot accept any requests to waive adult signature requirements on any package or to leave the package at another address, etc. Your best alternative is to ship to a business where someone will be available to sign during business hours. Or, have the package shipped to a friend or neighbor who you know can be home to sign for the package. Or, we can usually time the delivery to arrive on a Saturday, just let us know. Fedex will attempt to deliver the package three times. If no one is home they will return the package to us and you will be liable for the original shipping charge plus the shipping charge to return it to us.

Second, title to the wine you order passes to you as soon as it leaves our doors; it is up to you to know the relevant laws in your state.

Third, we cannot ship wine to PO Boxes or APO addresses. We do ship to Mail Boxes Etc./The UPS Store type stores where you may have a designated box.

Currently, we ARE NOT shipping to: AK, HI, KY, MA, MD, MT, PR, SD, TX, and UT. We do not ship internationally.

Shipping Rates

The following chart shows our wine ground shipping rates for up to standard 750ml bottles. Shipping rates for other items and methods will be shown to you at checkout. An insurance fee is added to each order (even to Free Shipping orders): the first $100 of value is free, then $2.25 for the next $300 of value and then $.75 for every additional $100 of value.

Our shipping is done in boxes that hold 1, 2, 3, 6, or 12 bottles of wine. To make the most of your shipping dollar, you should order in those quantities. For example, the cost per bottle for a 7 bottle order is higher than the cost per bottle for a 12 bottle order because we use the same container and the base charge is the same. NOTE: ALL FREE SHIPPING OFFERS APPLY TO GROUND SHIPPING ONLY!

Processing Time and FedEx Time

Most orders can be processed by the day following your online entry of the order. We can usually ship your order within 2 to 4 days (not including holidays and weekends). Depending on your location, the shipment will then take an additional 1-5 business days in transit. If there will be a delay longer than that, we will let you know immediately via email.

There has been some confusion about shipping companies and how they compute days. If we send a package on Friday using 2-day air, the shipping companies do not count the day we give it to them. Then, they do not count weekends as shipping days, only weekdays. So, this hypothetical package that was sent on Friday actually arrives on Tuesday and they consider it to be delivered on time...even though it actually took 5 days to get there! Please take this into consideration while waiting for your delivery. In addition, we usually ask the carriers to send out an email to you that includes the tracking number so you can track the package yourself.

Below is a US map with the approximate shipping days to your state based on ground shipping. These are only estimates but give you a general idea of how long it takes for packages to be shipped from New Jersey.

Shipping and Weather

We urge you during the summer months to use 2 or 3 day air especially if you are far away from NJ and live down south. We know air shipping is expensive but your wines should arrive in good condition due to less time sitting in a truck on the highway!

SPECIAL WEATHER NOTE: Please note that it's your responsibility to know the weather conditions in your area when you order wine to be shipped to you. If it's too hot in your region when you place your order, we'll be happy to hold your wine until conditions are right for you to have it shipped. We offer this service at no additional charge and will hold it until Fall if you prefer. To notify us of this, simply put a note in the Special Shipping Instructions at checkout or reply to your order email confirmation. If you want your wines immediately, consider using 2-day or 3-day air.


Out of Stock Situations

From time to time we encounter situations where we run out of an item or items that you may have ordered and we cannot get any more from our distributor. In this event, we will make every effort to contact you using the email address and phone number you supply to us in your order. If we do not hear back from you in two days we reserve the right to ship the balance of your order to you while reducing the charge on your credit card by the amount of the missing bottle(s) plus the incremental shipping charge (if any).

The packing slip enclosed in your box will reflect the order changes. We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause you but we feel that it is more important to get the balance of the order to you quickly rather than have you wait for it.

Return Policy


UltimateWineShop.com is committed to customer satisfaction. If we send you the wrong wine, we'll arrange to have the wine returned to us or we might make you an offer. If this happens, please email us at Customer Service.

Please note, any problems with packages must be called to our attention within 30 days of your delivery date. Please save your original receipt. If you suspect your bottle is bad, please just put the cork in the bottle leaving the contents in the bottle. We can't take back empty bottles! And we cannot replace bad bottles of wine unless we get the bad bottle back, so please do not throw bad bottles away! UltimateWineShop.com will have the bad product picked up and returned. We will inspect the product upon arrival and then send a replacement package to you.

If for some other reason you want to return wine to us, you will have to pay the shipping and we will also charge a 10% restocking fee to take it back in. In addition, if you decide you do not want an order that we are holding for you for future shipping that we have already charged you for, we will also impose the 10% restocking fee. The restocking fee is necessary because we are charged a percentage of the transaction by the credit card companies for every sale or refund plus our own labor costs to put your order together.
