The red wines begin with the 2008 El Templari, a blend of 55% Garnacha and 45% Morenillo aged in French oak for 14 months. It gives up an enticing perfume reminiscent of Pinot Noir (no doubt from the Morenillo component). Savory, intense, and already displaying some complexity, this tasty offering is likely to evolve for 1-2 years and drink well through 2020.
(55% garnacha and 45% morenillo, an indigenous variety that is almost extinct): Vivid red. Assertively perfumed aromas of cherry, blood orange and flowers. Fine-grained and vibrant in the mouth, with sharply delineated flavors of red fruits, licorice and orange peel. Deep and powerful but also dry and precise, with bright balancing acidity and a very long, mineral-driven finish. This wine's purity and focus are impressive.
