"This wine is INTENSE! The first thing you notice is the very dark inky deep plum color. The nose is heavy on the funk and flowers and the wine itself is very mature tasting - dusty leather, tobacco and oak all dance with the fruit character of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Merlot." Aroma: The warmer weather created aromas of boysenberry, black cherry, cocoa, plum and sage, which beautifully telegraph the flavors and mouthfeel to come.
Mouthfeel: This vintage is somewhat of an anomaly. It is the most concentrated, Napa-like vintage we?ve made to date. The entry is rich, creamy and chalky with very polished and refined tannins. The wine has big tannins with exceptional textural qualities. The finish is round with good length.
Mainly Cabernet Sauvignon, this wine was grown on the warmer slopes of Sonoma Mountain, a less known but respected part of Sonoma County. It's dry and firm in tannins, with rich flavors of blackberries, currants, mocha and oak. Flashy and delicious now, it should gain in the bottle over the next six years.
