On the palette, flavors of chocolate, mint, currant, and vanilla bean are revealed. The tannins are firm but not obtrusive and the wine can easily age for the next 6-9 years.
Balances power with finesse, offering intense blackberry, dusty rock, cedar, black licorice and dried herb flavors. Gains depth and nuance, with tannins providing traction and definition. Best from 2013 through 2024.
The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain is a fascinating wine. Some of the rougher, wilder edges that are present in the 2008 are smoothed out here. Layers of expressive dark fruit, licorice, mint and new leather wrap around the palate in this deep, powerful Cabernet Sauvignon. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024.
