Complex, aromatic nose combines redcurrant, plum, mocha and tarry oak. Intensely flavored but quite tightly wound, even a bit youthfully aggressive today, however the tannins here are rather fine and the finish shows excellent grip. Sere with red meat, roasts, Piedmont aged cheeses.
This is a beautiful wine that exhibits seductively dark concentration and bright aromas of red berries, cola and licorice that are characteristic of the Nebbiolo grape. The tannins show a polished, silky nature and will continue to evolve over long years of cellar aging.
The 2007 Barolo Bricco Luciani is one of the most beautiful wines I have tasted here in quite some time. Dark berries, flowers, minerals and spices are some of the nuances that emerge from this sexy, well-delineated Barolo. The 2007 possesses more depth than has been the norm over the recent past and also less new oak, a combination that has yielded a fabulous result. The wine's inner perfume carries through gracefully to the long, silky finish. This is a hugely enjoyable Barolo from Grasso. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2025.
