Susana Balbo's new releases begin with the 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon, which has 10% Malbec in its blend. It was made from 33-year-old ungrafted vines and aged for 13 months in 80% new French oak before bottling without fining and filtration. Aromas of wood smoke, spice box, tobacco, coffee, and assorted black fruits inform the nose of a supple, easygoing, relatively forward wine that will deliver plenty of pleasure over the next 5-7 years.
