Like all of our wines, our Talbott Chardonnay Sleepy Hollow Vineyard is made exclusively from estate-grown grapes. Produced from almost entirely Old Wente clone chardonnay grapes planted in 1972 from our prized South Block. It also includes a samll amount of grapes from our 20 year old Dijon clone vines. On the palate, it is lush and elegant, with a creamy mouthfeel and flavors of white peach and pear. The vineyard is situated on 585 prime acres of benchland in the Santa Lucia Highlands, 13 miles south of Monterey CA. This wine has come to define Talbott style with power, richness, integrated oak and bright cool-climate acidity.
Tart and focused, delivering lemon citrus flavors that lend this a mouthwatering juiciness. Loses some velocity on the finish. Drink now through 2018. 11,061 cases made. –JL
More layered, with additional richness and depth, the 2011 Chardonnay Sleepy Hollow Vineyard has loads of ripe golden apple, orange marmalade, white flowers and brioche that flow seamlessly to a medium-bodied, rich and beautifully textured palate. Showing juicy acidity and solid clarity and detail on the finish, it’s a beautiful Chardonnay to drink over the coming 2-4 years. Drink now-2017.
I was blown away by these current releases and across the board the wines show beautiful balance and loads of class. In addition, the Kali Hart and Logan releases are serious values that should not be missed!
