The 2009 Oak Cask Syrah has intense aromas of red berries and licorice. Has ripe, sweet fruit on the palate, with a peppery and lively character, with spice and vanilla notes from the oak aging.

Tight and intense for a $10 varietal, with crusty, charred oak aromas on top of ripe berry fruit. The palate is thick and full, with clamping tannins and flavors of lemony oak, plum and blackberry. Vanilla and mocha work the woody finish.
