Visual phase: Bright and crystalline of high intensity, purple colour with blue rim.
Starts out somewhat fiery, with a dose of aromatic horseradish. After airing out, this varietal Tempranillo is fresh, juicy and crisp on the tongue, with flavors of baking spices, tomato, roasted plum and earth. Feels juicy on the finish, maybe a bit lean, and overall it's cut from the classic cloth.
The 2006 Reserva is 100% Tempranillo from Alta and Alavesa matured in American and French oak over 20 months. The nose is well-defined, with notes of wild strawberry, leather, sage and tobacco that speaks clearly of its place. The palate is also well-defined, with fine tannins and harmony: an elegant, focused Reserva with a satisfying, silky smooth finish. Excellent. Drink now-2020.
